Why God is stopping your prosperity
In my last blog post, I posed a question about the appropriateness of continuing to create content without first seeking guidance from God. I didn’t intend to disappear afterward, but unforeseen circumstances, specifically illness within my family, necessitated a break. During this period, I discovered an essential truth: God desires that we do not become so consumed by our daily tasks that we forgo time with Him. He calls us to remain focused on our relationship with Him.
While I had previously understood this concept, it prompted me to reexamine my life and reflect on the messages found in Haggai chapters 1 and 2. In these scriptures, God deliberately halted the Israelites from achieving prosperity and success in their endeavors to draw their attention back to Him. Importantly, He did not prevent them from meeting their basic needs, but many lived in a state of financial struggle, akin to paycheck-to-paycheck living.
The context of Haggai is crucial: the Israelites had just returned from Babylon with the goal of rebuilding the devastated city of Jerusalem. However, they prioritized their own homes and personal lives over the vital task of reconstructing God’s temple. This neglect led to their challenges, as God sought to redirect their focus.
The lesson here is profound: our relationship with God transcends all other responsibilities we may carry. It surpasses the content we produce, the deadlines we strive to meet, and the projects we undertake. God is the source of our existence; our efforts will yield insufficient results without Him guiding our path.
Moreover, it is important to recognize that God’s significance in our lives goes beyond mere provision. Experiencing His peace, love, and kindness enriches our lives in ways that are immeasurable. He desires for us to live joyfully and peacefully, in communion with Him. We were created for worship and to bring Him glory; detaching from this truth only makes life’s challenges more burdensome.
Consequently, I am learning to prioritize my spiritual life above my physical pursuits because I earnestly want to receive all that God has in store for me.
